If you think that editing video on your computer is simply a matter of installing software, then you may be in for a rude awakening. While that might be all there is to it when adding a basic, introductory-level editing program, if you aspire for something more powerful—a nonlinear editor with real-time effects, real-time review, and any number of additional tools utilized by professional editors—then be prepared to learn that the computer that you use for typing text and checking e-mail is simply not up to the task.
