Some conceptual and research barriers to the utilization of knowledge

In the main, we are encouraged by the progress being made in under- standing the implications of knowledge for organizations. Both specific issues related to knowledge generation, dissemination, and use as well as the more general organizational implications of knowledge discussed above are being rec- ognized and researched at an increasing rate. We have not doubt that this work will continue to gain attention as knowledge takes a central place in more and more firms. What is perhaps less encouraging, however, is the progress(or lack thereof)being made at a philosophical and broad theoretical level regarding our basic approach to business.
