On the honor roll of nations that have done the most to improve their financial systems in the past decade, Poland ranks near the top. Since the socialist era ended, Poland has taken its capitalist medicine: It has cleaned up banks, privatized state enterprises, floated its currency, and made it easy for investors to come and go. Foreigners have, anointed Poland the success story of the old Soviet bloc and are pouring cash into the country.
