A week after announcing that his weight loss was due to an easily treated "hormone imbalance," Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Jan. 14 said he is taking a medical leave. In an e-mail to em-ployees, Jobs, who had surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004, said his health issues are "more complex than I originally thought" and that curiosity over his well-being was a distraction for his family and for the company. He expects to return at the end of June. Apple shares fell as much as 10% in after-hours trading.
