The metropolitan fixation of our national newspapers has claimed another silly bus scalp, spotted by Julian Osbome on the pages of The Independent.rnIts conviction that its readers could only relate the size of anything to a London bus, rather than the much greater number found beyond the M25, led it to compare the girth of a pliosaur to one such red double-decker. Credit to the paper for realising that the bus has evolved beyond either the pliosaur or the Routemaster and for finding itself an image of a Wright Gemini,rneven if it managed to convert it to left-hand drive.
