Fines introduced for errant Malta drivers

Arriva Malta is introducing fines (on) its drivers in a move to improve the quality of the island's bus service. According to island newspaper The Sunday Times, drivers who fail to deposit the full amount of money from daily ticket sales will be fined €50 (£42). There will be fines of €20 for reporting late for work, €10 for reporting back late from a break, €5 for smoking on company premises or in vehicles, and not displaying an identity tag.
