Reading the article on the new X7 Aberdeen-Perth in January Buses, I could not help thinking that if Stagecoach can run such a vehicle as the Volvo BUR with Plaxton Elite-i inter-deck coach body on a route with rail competition from ScotRail, East Coast and Crosscountry, why do passengers in England and especially Wales get an inferior service. As a member of Plaid Werdd, the Wales Green Party, we often have to think of how we are to reduce air pollution levels and traffic congestion across the country. Given the geographical rail network in Wales, every north Wales to south Wales journey or Aberystwyth to south Wales journey is routed via Shrewsbury. This means that the TrawsCymru bus routes between Cardiff, Carmarthen (and Aberystwyth with connections to Porthmadog and Bangor) become a major trunk asset in the Welsh transport network, as does the similar route between Cardiff and Newtown via Brecon.
