This picture album - mainly black and white - offers a flavour of the hugely varied operating territory that Midland Red served from Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire in the west to Leicestershire in the east by way of Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country. It has been published on behalf of the Transport Museum Wythall and The Bus Archive, making use of their rich photographic resources, as well as the work of the late Peter Mitchell who composed images of buses at work in towns, cities and open countryside. As the authors acknowledge, it often was easier to track vehicles down in bus stations or garage yards, but the pictures here tell so much more.
