P&R reprieve for Taunton

Taunton's park-&-ride and hospital bus links have been thrown a lifeline ahead of Somerset County Council axing the services in widespread cuts [Buses last month). This is good news for First, which has also gained additional work in Dorset. Taunton Deane Borough Council pledged a one-off contribution to fund a reduced First South West cross-town route P&R1 (Gateway-Musgrove Park Hospital-Silk Mills) until next September. It says this does not guarantee its long-term future but provides an opportunity to work with the county council and First to develop a commercially viable service. From 5 November it reduces to every 15min all day, saving two vehicles. Saturday buses are already axed.
