Ukraine has updated its national strategy for the development of its port sector by 2038. According to the country's infrastructure minister, Vladyslav Krykliy, this was necessary as the original document adopted in 2013 had become outdated. He said the amendments to the strategy approved by the Ukrainian Government will significantly contribute to the future development of the nation's port industry. The revised strategy is expected to help attract around US$2B of private investments into the sector and create about 4,700 new jobs in the long term. It should also be instrumental in expanding the aggregate volume of cargoes handled by Ukrainian port operators from around 159 Mt last year (-0.5% on 2019) to 265 Mtpa.
