Determining which type of stacker/reclaimer to select is governed by five key criteria: available space; the throughput and peak capacity requirements of the plant; blending/homogenisation needs; environmental issues and the rate of return on the investment. The circular stacker/ reclaimer evolved as a response to industry requirements for a system that could operate within a confined space. Depending on the application and the desired results, the circular stacker/reclaimer is either built with a cantilever reclaimer, a portal or a bridge-type reclaimer. While the cantilever scraper reclaimer is used for buffer storage, the circular stacker with bridge-type reclaimer is meant for storage and homogenisation.
