There's a gentle revolution going on in the offices and boardrooms of a growing number of construction companies. Red-blooded managers are turning into softer but stronger versions of their former selves; salt-of-the-earth site managers have become subtle communicators. It is called behavioural training, and its evangelists are set to reach a site near you soon. Their message is that the first step in changing a company's corporate style is to change the thinking of the individuals within it. With partnering now the norm and non-adversarial contracts the goal, the theory is that the "soft" skills of understanding colleagues and clients, improving communication and avoiding arguments will be the key to business success.
