Prince: engineers should embrace nature

The Prince of Wales has called on engineers to work in harmony with nature in his first speech at the Institution of Civil Engineers. In an event organised in association with Halcrow, the prince drew from the wording of the institution's Royal Charter, granted in 1828, arguing that the challenges of sustainable development in the 21st century required closer co-operation with other professions and more emphasis on time-honoured techniques that reflect the natural world.
