There has been a lot of talk since the EU referendum on how to build a ‘global Britain’, in which businesses seek out and developrnnew export markets. This begs the question as to why British firms weren’t doing more of this already. Liam Fox, the Secretary ofrnState for International Trade has one answer, describing UK businesses as “too lazy and too fat” and claiming that Britishrnmanagers choose not to bother “because it might be too difficult or too time-consuming or because they can’t play golf on arnFriday afternoon.”
