Virginia is for lovers-of green buildings. The commonwealth topped the U.S. Green Building Council's annual list of the top 10 states for LEED-certified projects, based on per-capita square footage. California had the greatest total square footage of LEED projects, at more than 54 million sf, followed by Texas (>36 million sf) and New York (>34 million sf).
