In response to the growing demand for technical professionals trained in the installation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing robotics, Lansing (Mich.) Community College expanded its Technical Careers Center with an 8,000-sf renovation and 11,000-sf addition, called the Center for Manufacturing Excellence. The training and instruction space is home to a newly developed me-chatronics curricula, graduating multi-skilled tech workers trained in pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, electronics systems, and programming. Lab spaces include a flexible manufacturing lab, machine lab, and pre-stage labs containing robotic welding, a welding simulator, mobile laser, plasma table, and open fabrication and material storage space.
