By a contract entered into with the first and second respondents (INPEX), the appellant (JKC) agreed to provide services in connection with the construction of onshore facilities for the Ichthys Gas Field Development Project (the Contract). On 3 November 2016, JKC issued to INPEX two invoices seeking payment for works said to have been performed pursuant to the Contract. On 24 November 2016 (21 days later), INPEX disputed that it was obliged to pay part of the sum claimed by each invoice.
