Communities secretary Eric Pickles has written to chief planning officers warning them that regional strategies will be rapidly abolished and powers on planning and housing returned to councils.rnHe said decisions on housing supply would therefore rest with localrnplanning authorities without the framework of regional numbers and plans and a formal announcement would be made soon. But in the meantime he expected local planning authorities and the Planning Inspectorate to treat his letter as a material consideration.
