A comparison of two methods of investigating patient-practitioner interaction

This paper critically examines the potential contribution of Conversation Analysis and Discourse Analysis to podiatric research. It focuses on the relevance, applicability and appropriateness of these techniques of analysis on data derived from naturally occurring talk (a conversation). Such data may be located in the context of the patient-practitioner interaction. The management of data analysis in this context is explored.
