Second bakery mooted as Tesco changes tack

Supermarket Tesco looks set to open a second large bakery to source its ongoing expansion of Euphorium, British Baker has learned. The supermarket is due to open its first bakery for Euphorium in Weybridge, Surrey, next month -however, British Baker has discovered that it is also assessing options for a second, much larger bakery in Enfield, Hertfordshire. When the supermarket announced the opening of its Weybridge facility, it said it would close 100 in-store bakeries, and now staff fear a larger second site would also lead to more closures. Tesco invested in craft operator Euphorium Bakery last year, and has 11 Euphorium concessions in its stores around London.
