Ministry of Cake says its acquisition by French manufacturer Mademoiselle Desserts leaves it better placed to deal with the uncertainties of Brexit. The business, which employs 400 staff at factories in Taunton and Torquay, was this month acquired by tart, dessert and cake supplier Mademoiselle Desserts for an undisclosed sum. Ministry of Cake managing director Chris Ormrod will remain in charge of the UK firm, which has a turnover of more than S30m and supplies pub and restaurant chains such as JD Wetherspoon, TGI Fridays and Whitbread.
