It is 60 years since the founding of one of American photographic history's most important institutions. Attending the recent celebration in San Francisco, senior contributing editor Richard Pitnick talks with three authors whose books focus on reminiscences and work of faculty and students of those early years. During the first decade following World War Two, American photography experienced a series of landmark events that were instrumental in helping transform the medium into the 20th century's most important art form.
