Beijing-based Industrial Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) is not only the largest bank in China in almost all areas, it is the third largest in the world, according to The Bank-el's Top 1000 World Banks for 2012. It is also the most profitable bank in the world, with net profit after tax rising 25.6% in 2011 to reach a staggering $33.1bn, representing a compound annual growth rate of 33.1% over the past six years.
