Speaking of unusual terms... one of my Facebook fans has put out a call to anyone who can tell us more about bird dog boats. I'm guessing that a lot of you are thinking something along the lines of "What the heck is that?". Despite spending more years than I would care to think about working on or about the waterfront, I'd never heard the phrase before the request came along. The world's vastest database (the internet) doesn't shed much light. Besides which, I am sure my web-savvy Facebook fans have more internet search skills than I do, so they will know what is out there.
