WINCH WUNDERKINDS EQUIP FIRST-IN-SERIES ASD TUG

Leading winch and deck machinery manufacturer JonRie has announced the delivery of the 'Hawaii', the first of two 36.6 metre × 10.6 metre × 5.8 metre Jensen-designed ocean-going tugs to Delaware-based owner Hyak Maritime. Built by JT Marine of Vancouver, Washington, the ABS-classed 80TBP line haul tug features a JonRie Series 200 bow winch with a capacity of 150M of 60mm line. Performance characteristics of this winch include a line pull of five tonnes, a line speed of 20M/m and a brake with capacity of 200 tonnes with an independent capstan. The winch also features JonRie's joystick feather speed control, auto render block, fail-safe brakes and an "Auto Abort System".
