Appreciation and Goals

I would like to begin by thanking the Executive Board for giving me the opportunity to serve as Executive Director of AWIS. I look forward to achieving the goals set forth in our long range plan with the help of the Board, the chapters, and all of our members. I would also like to thank all those who participated in our June Conference on Women in Science and Engineering. The conference was quite successful as Betty described in her column. I would like to thank our sponsors, the members of the planning committee, the National Office staff, and Smith College for hosting the event. Without these dedicated people, the conference would not have been the success that it was. The working groups generated many outstanding recommendations to advance women in the STEM fields.
