Throttled

Engine failure. Take a breath and collect yourself. Hopefully you have a flow memorized to try and restore power, and maybe it includes the fuel selector, mixture control, boost pump, magnetos and more. But what about the throttle? Good flight training will include plenty of power-loss scenarios, but in most training cases, the throttle will be set at idle to simulate the power loss. Pilots can get away with not thinking much about what to do with the throttle in the case of an actual power loss. When it happened to me, I had about 45 minutes of fuel on board.
