Regulatory approval for the re-launch of flights by Kingfisher Airlines was sought by the carrier's senior management at a meeting with India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) chief, Arun Mishra, on April 10. They also submitted details of new funding for the airline. Kingfisher's CEO Sanjay Aggarwal, said that initial funding to restart services (grounded by the country's authorities since December 2012, following a strike by employees including its pilots, over non-payment of wages) will come from parent company, United Breweries Group. The DGCA said it would examine the plan carefully before making a decision. It is understood the airline is planning to resume flying with limited services using five A320s and two ATR turboprops and gradually increase its fleet to 20 aircraft.
