Airbus Defence and Space has been selected by the Republic of Korea to fulfil its air refuelling requirements with four A330 Multi Role Tanker Transports (MRTTs) and secured an order for two additional aircraft from Australia. Korea's decision to opt for the A330 MRTT was announced by the country's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on June 30. Airbus had been competing with the Boeing KC-46A Pegasus and an IAI offer of a Boeing 767-300ER-based Multi-Mission Tanker Transport conversion. DAPA stated the A330 MRTT was selected for its price, performance, fuel capacity and the amount of personnel and cargo it can carry.
