More Places Accept Plastic

The plastics industry has been through some tough times in recent years. Mounting environmental and recycling legislation, a drop in demand for PVCs and increases in oil prices have all brought pressure to bear. Yet the industry is flourishing, with growth expected to continue at above-average rates.rnThe findings of a study by chemicals group BASF of Leverkusen, presented at the K2001 plastics fair staged in Dusseldorf in October, indicate worldwide production of plastics and polymers will' rise from 170 million tonnes in 2000 to 260 million tonnes in 2010 - an average growth in demand of 5.5 per cent.
