Think Audi and you probably think Vorsprung durch Technik and innovative technology. But with today's emphasis on IT, niche products and alternative powertrain, is that perception still valid? Elaine Catton asked Audi board member for technical development Werner MischkernDr Werner Mischke, a 52-year-old graduate in mechanical engineering from Darmstadt University, joined Audi in 1979 as a body structure engineer. He moved to BMW in 1987, before returning to Audi as a board member in 1997. Since then he has overseen the development and introduction of such technologies as Multitronic, the company's CVT, and the second-generation ASF used in the A2.
