Anthony Best Dynamics (ABD) is one of the companies in which the UK excels - it is small and dynamic, offers high-tech products and solutions - and is internationally renowned for what it does. Established in 1982 to offer consultancy and design services with particular expertise in noise and vibration engineering, it now employs around 30 people and has a turnover of approximately EUD3 million. The business is divided into services and special purpose test products. Both sides are again divided into two with design and development and a test and measurement facility on the service side while the products side of the business embraces suspension test machinery and noise vibration analysis systems. "Typical of the design and development side of the business is the low bandwidth active suspension we did for Ford and Jaguar a few years ago," says Anthony Best, founder and managing director Anthony Best Dynamics. "It was an interesting project looking at advanced suspension where the challenge was to produce a set-up that included all the refinement expected in a Jaguar but without any roll-bars. It was a fun project, challenging, good people to work with and we achieved what we set out to do.
