Navteq lets carmakers take maps for a road test

Digital map maker Navteq has produced a development platform enabling users to evaluate map-enhanced advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).rnOEMs and Tier Ones want to use digital map data to improve active safety systems and fuel efficiency. Navteq's map and positioning engine (MPE) toolkit should help to accelerate industry research projects and bring systems to market more quickly.rnNavteq's vice-president of ADAS Bob Denaro said: "MPE brings the power of digital maps and predicted road hazards ahead to automotive sensors and control systems. Design engineers can implement and test these concepts immediately."
