Collision course

Human error is the main contributing factor to road traffic accidents. Tiredness, lack of concentration and distractions from passengers can all cause drivers to make the wrong judgements at critical points. Current advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, active lane assist and blind-spot warnings can all help to minimise the chances of being involved in an accident. But more advanced technologies could cut the number of collisions even further. Audi's engineers are developing systems that will aid the driver, particularly when emergency braking is required, to reduce the number of accidents and the severity of collisions should they be unavoidable.
