WEBASTO ROOF HELPS TO COOL DOWN SMART FORTWO

Webasto is providing a heat-absorbing, polycarbonate roof for Daimler's Smart Fortwo city car. The lightweight, panoramic roof absorbs solar energy, preventing the interior of the car from overheating. Up to 50% lighter than a typical glass equivalent, the plastic panel weighs only 9.8kg and improves the Smart Fortwo's driving dynamics, as well as contributing to a reduction in fuel consumption. The product, made of Makrolon AG2677 from Bayer MaterialScience, consists of a 1.2m~2, transparent roof that admits an increased amount of light without allowing the harmful infrared rays to pass through to the people seated inside.
