Generous Grenache flavours impress La Trobe tasting panel

On 24 October this year, 16 South Australian straight varietal Grenache wines came under the spotlight at La Trobe University's (LTU) Bundoora Campus in outer Melbourne, Victoria. The Grenache analysts for this issue's Varietal Report tasting included winemakers Antoine Jamet and Amelie Devisme, from Hanging Rock Winery in the Macedon Ranges; Steve Goodwin, from Witchmount Estate in the Sunbury sub-region of Port Phillip, Victoria; and journalist Jeni Port, writer for The Age and Gourmet Traveller WINE. Bachelor of Viticultural Science and Wine Production undergraduate students Colby Quirk and Michael Ng; and members of the Master of Wine and Wine Appreciation course Greg Martin, Ryan Hancock and Lisa Beck were joined by Lindsay Corby, lecturer in wine production as part of the LTU's Faculty of Science.
