The Commonwealth Government has released a series of regulatory and consultation documents regarding its national energy efficiency disclosure scheme, culminating in the Building Energy Efficiency Bill 2010 (Cth) (the Bill).rnThe Bill, which was introduced into the House of Representatives on 18 March 2010, proposes to establish mandatory disclosure rules for large commercial office buildings, in order to "enable potential purchasers or lessees to consider energy efficiency as part of their decision making processes".rnThis article looks at the key features of the scheme, and what building owners and tenants can do to prepare for the scheme.
