Navantia finally taken into AWD fold

Following a limited tender process, Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) designer Na- vantia SA has been selected to bring an ex- perienced shipbuilding management team into ASC to maximise AWD program per-formance through to the end of the three ships' construction. Navantia will also lo- cate a design team in the Osborne shipyard. Despite being the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Navantia has never been a formal part of the AWD Alliance, formed in 2005 between the Common- wealth (DMO now CASG), Raytheon Aus-tralia and ASC Shipbuilding.
