Good News for Venice

Venice is less threatened by climate change than previously thought, according to Dr Alberto Troc-coli of CSIRO. The low-lying city may survive the rising waters, just as it has defeated so many previous threats. Venice has been inundated many times over the centuries, and this became worse during the 20th century as the drawing of water from artesian wells caused the city to subside. Now that the wells have been banned, the threat comes from global sea level rise.
