摘要

A new computer aided design (CAD) system for hybrid circuits, the VENICE System, is presented. The system, which is completely integrated, is intended to help the designer from schematics to manufacturing. The system's definition is based on an investigation of the relevant characteristics of the CAE/CAD systems, like open architecture, portability, interactivity and integration. The system is composed by a set of tools with the same user interface and accessing a common database. In order to achieve portability the system was developed in the C language under the UNIX operating system, and uses the graphical system GKS implemented in X-Windows. The process of tool integration is facilitated by the use of a set of interfaces that access, in a uniform way, the design information kept in the database. The communication with other systems can be done using the EDIF format. In the context of the thesis, an initial version of the system was implemented, which permits the design of hybrid circuits in a semiautomatic way.
