摘要

An ongoing survey of consumer purchases conducted by NPD Techworld, a division of The NPD Group, indicates that people have been in a buying mood. In the last 12 months, NPD Techworid's survey indicates that over $95 billion worth of consumer electronics products were purchased in the U.S. Spending slowed in 2002 as the economy entered a recession. The decline continued through the Christmas season and into the first quarter of 2003, as the nation prepared for war. Purchases by consumers hit a low point in April, when the rolling 12-month sales rate bottomed out at $92.4 billion. The turnaround began this past May, when consumer electronics products moved out of the stores and into homes across the country at an increased pace. September saw a slight hiccup, but the $95.1 billion spent is still 1.2% above what it was a year ago.
