Defense & Security 2009: Paving the Way for Defense Cooperation

Bangkok's Defense & Security 2009 show held at IMPACT Exhibition Centre, in the Thai capital, proved to be an even bigger event than its previous edition. The show was held from Nov 4 to 7, 2009, and the event as graced by top officials in the government, armed forces and other security organisations. Thailand's Defence Minister, General Prawit Wongsuwan, opened the show, witnessed by Asean ministers, senior officials and top brass from the region and afar. Gen Prawit in his opening message said the current security concern in Southeast Asia as well as other regions has prompted a keen interest in cutting-edge security technology. "Thailand, as a member of the international community, is deeplyrnconcerned of the need for capability enhancement for the armed forces," he added. Also present were Permanent Secretary for Defence Gen Apichart Penkitti and Managing Director UBM Asia (Thailand) M Ghandi.
