General Prawit Wongsuwan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Thailand

Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha appointed Gen Prawit Wongsuwan as Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister in August 2014. Since then, Gen Prawit has been working all out to ensure that the kingdom's defence and security is of paramount importance. The General envisioned Thailand and Thai military as power to be reckoned with in the future. This is foreseen with the kingdom's rampant drive to modernise military equipment across all three services. He also emphasises the need to address the increasing non-traditional threats that not only affect Thailand, but also other regional states. ADJ seized the opportunity to talk to Gen Prawit on various issues concerning Thailand's direction;encompassing economy, foreign relations, military, regional cooperation, and the country's defence industry.
