The Australian Army is embarking on a major modernisation programme following the publication of its 2016 Defence White Paper that confirmed the transformation of its land forces. Global events and recent deployments have heightened awareness of the potential for large-scale Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) incidents and part of this programme involves a considerable investment in the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence capability.
