In the market for mobile phones, at-tention of has shifted to the high end. This trend has meant more business for makers of high-value-added mounted parts. Competition is heating up among parts and device manufacturers for a greater share of the high-end business. Meanwhile, the market for mobile phones continues to expand. Demand outside Japan was robust from April to September 2005, and then showed even greater strength from October to November. Sales of mobile phones outside Japan in 2005 came to 750 million units, far surpassing estimates at the start of the year.
