Japanese manufacturers of electronic components have been accelerating efforts to expand their production capacities in Vietnam. Amid the ongoing globalization and the intensifying international competition in the supply of components, the role of Vietnam in the production landscape has been increasing. This trend arose from low-cost operation and as a result of risk hedging from over concentration of production in China. Positioning Vietnam as a crucial supply base for the global market, manufacturers have been investing actively in the construction of new plants and in the expansion of existing facilities in a bid to increase competitiveness.
