The evolution of refrigeration and air-conditioning technology is an unfolding story in which YORK and Frick play critical roles today, just as they did over a century ago. Over the years, the story of the two companies intertwines, eventually becoming one as the YORK International Corporation, the largest, independent supplier of air-conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and services in the world. Today, YORK spans the globe with over 25,000 employees in over 100 countries. Begun in 1874, YORK was founded as the York Manufacturing Company by a group of businessmen in York, Pennsylvania. The Frick Company was founded in 1853 by millwright George Frick in nearby Waynesboro.
