Once rejected by many modern architects, closed edge block development has returned to Berlin. Only a few years ago there were numerous gaps in the street fronts of many Wil-helmine districts. Often they allowed the most surprising insights into the interior life of the blocks. Now new buildings in the urban tradition of the 19th century occupy many of these gaps, but there are also a few unusual interpretations of the theme - such as the one by Kaden+Partner.
