The first design scheme I made for the clients was not approved, despite trying to convince them of a linear layout of the spaces. I designed to understand better what they wanted, and ended up with an interpretation from a simple sketch of a diamond layout that the client wanted for his family house. The terrain is very steep, and one must cross a little river by pulling yourself across on a hanging cable cart. After crossing the river, you must walk approximately 2 km up the mountain. The home comprises of 4 pavilions. 3 pavilions make up the bedroom areas for their 3 children, as well as a master bedroom. The fourth pavilion is the dining and living area with a kitchen. All pavilions are standing on stilts, and the pavilions are connected to one another by covered bridges with ramps or stairs, depending on the slope between. All the structures are made with bamboo Guadua, and the floors are poured concrete platforms supported by bamboo Guadua. In the main master bedroom pavilion for the parents, bamboo Guadua is used with its rhizomes and dark palm tree wood.
