摘要

This research institution was designed to flexibly accommodate future changes in research content, with a "unit laboratory system" in which the infrastructure supply unit is used at each span length. The glass facade of the laboratories is covered with a total of 360 louvers that rotate around a vertical axis. These louvers enable the degree of light and privacy to be adjusted, and they also form a simple double skin that stabilizes the environment near the windows by adjusting the air flow. The louvers also function as furniture; and researchers can adjust the angle of each louver individually to match their preference and the nature of their research activities. Each louver forms one pixel of the building's exterior image; the aim was to create a facade in which the interior environment selected by each researcher forms the overall image of the building. On the ends of the common corridor are two open spaces, that have been provided to stimulate researcher inspiration and interchange. View windows that can be opened to admit breezes and sunlight in a relaxed atmosphere. Research institutions tend to be monotonous, but this facility is designed to produce changing scenes in the midst of activity.
